What you need Your sitting slip (provided by your exam centre — it contains your unique code), a device with a modern web browser, and a stable internet connection.

Before exam day — checklist

  • ✅ Ensure you have your sitting slip with your unique code
  • ✅ Use a computer or tablet where possible (not a phone for long exams)
  • ✅ Make sure your device's browser is up to date (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari)
  • ✅ Check your internet connection is stable
  • ✅ If ID verification is required, have your photo ID ready (e.g. school ID, passport)
  • ✅ Close all unnecessary tabs and applications
  • ✅ Do not use browser plugins that block JavaScript

Step-by-step: sitting your exam

1

Open your browser and go to the candidate portal

Open a web browser and navigate to candidate.xampro.co.uk. You will see a box asking for your unique sitting code.

2

Enter your unique sitting code

Find your code on your sitting slip — it is a short combination of letters and numbers. Type it into the box and click Submit. The code is not case-sensitive.

3

Read and accept the exam rules

You will see the exam disclaimer — the rules and conditions for your exam. Read these carefully. When you are ready, click I Accept to continue.

4

Complete ID verification (if required)

Some exams require you to submit a photo of your ID. If prompted, take a clear photo of your photo ID (school ID card, driving licence, or passport). Upload it using the button on screen, then click Continue.

5

Start your exam

You will see your exam interface. A countdown timer shows the time remaining. Begin answering questions. Your answers are saved automatically — you do not need to click Save after each one.

6

Submit your answers or wait for time to expire

When finished, click Submit Exam. If you do not submit before the end time, your exam automatically locks and answers saved up to that point are recorded. You cannot re-enter after submission or expiry.

7

Confirmation page

After submitting you will see a confirmation screen. Your exam is complete. You may close the browser window.

During the exam — important rules

đŸšĢ
Do not share your sitting code Your code is unique to you and this exam. Sharing it is academic misconduct. Each code can only be used by one person from one device.
  • Do not leave the exam page and open other websites or applications
  • Do not use any notes, books, or unauthorised materials unless specifically permitted
  • Do not communicate with other people during the exam
  • The exam closes automatically at the end time — you cannot re-enter
  • Your IP address and device are recorded for invigilation purposes

Having technical problems?

My code says "invalid" or "not found" ▾
Check you are entering the code exactly as it appears on your sitting slip. If it still does not work, contact your exam centre — they may need to check the sitting details.
My code says the exam is not yet available ▾
The exam can only be accessed during the scheduled start and end window. Check the times on your sitting slip. If you believe the time is correct and you are still blocked, contact your exam centre.
My internet dropped during the exam — did I lose my answers? ▾
Answers are saved as you go. Reconnect and go back to candidate.xampro.co.uk. Enter your sitting code again — if the exam is still within its time window, you will resume from where you left off.
My exam page froze or crashed ▾
Refresh the page or reopen the browser and navigate back to candidate.xampro.co.uk. Enter your code again to resume. Alert your invigilator immediately.
I accidentally closed the browser tab ▾
Go back to candidate.xampro.co.uk and enter your code again. If the exam window is still open, you will resume your session normally.
