Exam Sittings
A sitting is a single exam session for one candidate. Each sitting generates a unique access code the candidate uses on exam day.
Creating a single sitting
Go to Exam Sittings
From the dashboard, click Exam Sittings in the navigation menu, or click the Exam Sittings card on the dashboard.
Click "Create Sitting"
Click the Create Sitting button (top right of the page). The sitting creation form will open.
Enter candidate details
Fill in Forename, Surname, Exam Number (e.g. 12345A), and Paper Name (e.g. "English Literature Unit 1").
Set the exam times
Enter the Exam Date, Start Time, and End Time. The candidate's session locks automatically at the end time â make sure times match the official timetable.
Assign to a Collection
Select a collection from the dropdown. If you have not created one yet, create one first.
Set ID verification (optional)
Toggle ID Verification Required on if this exam requires the candidate to submit a photo of their ID before starting.
Save the sitting
Click Save Sitting. XamPro generates a unique sitting code automatically. The sitting now appears in your list.
Print or share the sitting slip
Click the sitting to view it, then click Print Sitting Slip. This contains the candidate's name, exam details, and unique access code. Give it to the candidate before exam day.
Managing sittings
The Exam Sittings page shows a searchable, sortable table of all sittings. Search by candidate name, exam number, or paper name. Filter by collection. Click any row to view full sitting details or the sitting slip.
Editing a sitting
Find the sitting
Use the search box to find the sitting by candidate name or exam number.
Click the edit button
Click the Edit icon (pencil) in the action column. The edit form opens with current values pre-filled.
Make changes and save
Update any fields, then click Save.
Deleting a sitting
Click the Delete icon on the sittings list. You will be asked to enter your account password to confirm. This is permanent â the sitting and its access code will be removed.
Sitting statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Upcoming | The exam date is in the future. The candidate cannot start yet. |
| Active | Within the scheduled start and end time. The candidate can access the exam. |
| Locked | The end time has passed. The session is closed. |
| Not started | The window was active but the candidate never entered their code. |
